Do you know if the scrubbing bubbles $5 giftcard deal is being extended? Three Targets in my area were our of the product all week because of coupons/gift card deals I guess :(

Hi, Kerry! LOVE your site and use it all the time! :) It’s definitely helped me become more proficient in using Qs at Target. One thing I run into a lot, though, is that most of the IP Qs — those from coupons.com and external sites like the [email protected] newsletter — won’t scan for the cashier and, while I’ve never had any of them refused, it usually ends up flustering them because they have to be entered manually and I usually have several, along with a handful of other coupons. I’ve noticed that when I get home and check my receipt, they’ve almost always skipped two or three of the IP Qs, probably because there’s a huge line behind me and they just want to get me out of there as quickly as possible. I certainly don’t want to cause issues for the cashiers, but I don’t want to give up using IP Qs, either. I’m wondering if anyone else has this issue at Target, or if it could be something with my printer that’s rendering them “unscannable” for Target cashiers. I do not have this problem with the Target Store Qs (those always scan fine) but those seem to print significantly larger than the Qs from coupons.com so maybe it’s a size thing? I’m just not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have had similar situations happen with coupons scanning. Seems like no matter what product I buy and what Q’s I use it beeps and says “item not matching” even though its completely the right combo, usually the cashier just overrides them. One very nice mngr once told me when an issue with one of my Q’s came up that they have really really cracked down on coupons and she wasn’t entirely sure why so hard. Its a shame that they have gone to the point of their machines not recognizing so many valid q’s. I don’t really have an answer for you but I have learned to add up the amount of my Q’s before handing them over and then before I leave the store quickly adding them up on my receipt to make sure they were all taken off. If they haven’t I just stop at the CS desk.

I had an issue with Target accepting the Johnson’s Baby Powder and Lotion coupons today too. I’m in Sacramento.

Usually no problems with Target, so this was weird.

I ALWAYS have problems with Walmart accepting these coupons.

  5. Jaime says:

Thank you, Karmen and Kitty! Do the Internet coupons you print on your computer (except the Target Store Qs) usually scan at Target for you, or does the cashier just enter them in manually? I don’t have problems with beeps; the bar codes on the coupons just don’t scan. I’m trying to determine if it’s: a — something with my printer that I can hopefully correct; b: something with the Target scanners; c — cashier error in scanning the coupon; or d — something else.

Karmen, I will take your helpful advice (and Kerry’s as she just did a post on this a few weeks ago) about adding up my Qs before my purchases are rung up and then matching them up to my receipt before I leave the store. It really is too bad that this is necessary, though; I spend a lot of money at Target every week and it seems like there is a mistake almost every time I go there whether it’s a missed Q or an incorrect price. I understand that mistakes happen, but I was overcharged on at least one item the last three times I shopped there. I will definitely be checking my receipts before I leave the store from now on.

I had an issue with them accepting a coupon I had printed directly from their website. The cashier tried to scan it and it wouldn’t scan so she called a manager over, who just looked at the coupon and tried scanning it again. He said that they couldn’t accept it if it wouldn’t scan. I know they can key them in because they have done it before. It was legitimate coupon – I was stacking the 3.00 off Huggies Pure & Natural Target Coupon with a 3.00 off Any Huggies coupon. He said he had not seen that particular coupon before.

I have learned which cashiers to go to and which ones not to. The same ones always seem like its a hassle. I used to work in retail management, so I understand that they have to be watch what they accept. But, I hate it when they try to make me feel as if I am doing something illegal by trying to save a little money. I do agree, I have learned (not just at Target, but other places, too) to add all of my coupons up before I go to check out.
