Many large theaters participate in FREE or very inexpensive Summer Film Festivals. For me it is Muvico Theaters and my son Austin and I plan on taking advantage of several of the FREE movies scheduled this summer. Our program starts June 12th and we can see a FREE movie every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 10 am. All Muvico Theater locations are participating excluding Muvico Village 12 in Fredericksburg, VA.

My advice is to get to the theater early, as sometimes there are whole groups of children from day camps arriving and they can fill up the theaters fast. This summer Muvico will be showing Kung Fu Panda 2, How to Train Your Dragon, Megamind, Monsters vs. Aliens, The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie, Rango, Madagascar, Shrek Forever After, Puss in Boots, and Over The Hedge.

Here’s a few more programs I know about, and be sure to call your local theater if you don’t see yours listed here to ask if they offer any summer specials or FREE Movies. Or if you know offhand of any programs you want to share with other readers, please feel free to share it in the comments with any info or link you can provide and I will add it to the post….

FREE Movies will be shown twice a week for nine weeks at 10 am. All movies will have a G or PG Rating with the earliest one starting May 21st. You can go HERE  to find a Rave near you and a schedule lineup.

Offered by select Regal Cinemas, United Artists, and Edwards Theaters. Movies will be shown every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 a.m., and admission is $1. They will all be rated G or PG and start dates vary by location. You can check to see if you have a local participating theater along with movie titles and schedule on the Regal Entertainment Group Summer Movie Express site.

You can purchase punch cards for the Summer Movie Clubhouse promo that starts in June. You should purchase the tickets from your theater now, since there is a limited supply. Movies are rated G or PG and you can get 10 tickets in advance for $5, or pay just $1 per ticket at the gate on the day of the movie. Go HERE to find details, participating locations, showtimes, and a list of included movies.

Starting June 7th, kids can enjoy a movie for only $2 every Thursday at 10 am for 10 weeks this summer. $2 Movie Combo includes: drink, popcorn, and admission. Go HERE to find participating theaters and the movie lineup for this summer’s kid series.

@Kim- imo I would try and get there at least 20 minutes early. I remmeber Austin and I being turned away once when we were there right on time- would hate for that to happen to any of you. From then on we always showed up around 20 minutes early and we were fine. hth
