I was there to do this deal today along with a couple of others today. Upon checking out at the register, the cashier told me they no longer accept MQ in addition to TQ. It would have to be one or the other. I asked when this started and she said today. I asked to speak with a manager and and the manager also confirmed it. I asked her to see the new policy and she said she couldn’t since it was only intended for employees only. She said that I would be able to find the new coupon policy online. I didn’t want to hold up the line any longer so I told the cashier to ring me up and use whatever coupon works and the others that doesn’t, just hand them back to me. When I came home, I checked on their website to see and it clearly states “Target accepts one Manufacturer Coupon and one Target Coupon for the same item (unless prohibited by either coupon). I will be going back to Target tomorrow to return everything.

I also had a problem using two MQ’s today, because the first line of the small print says “one per purchase” of specified product. The I told the kid that the long data-bar on the coupon prevents problems like that, since I saw him scan it on purpose on one coupon. He proceeded to tell me he did that and the register wouldn’t let him put it through – which is a lie, he laid out the two MQ’s and the target coupon side by side and scanned the Target coupon then one MQ, then looked at the other one and handed it back to me. His supervisor agreed with him and rambled something about coupon fraud being more and more common. Neither one would budge despite the fact I told them I did this deal earlier in the week, exactly the same.

Did anyone have problems with the register actually not accepting the data-bar code? I am pretty sure earlier in the week the cashier didn’t intentionally scan the data-bar code so I don’t know… I’m mostly annoyed because I work elsewhere as a cashier and have gone out of my way to point out fraudulent coupon use problems at my store, I really feel offended. I will probably just try one more time on my way home again tomorrow though! lol
