This year, Austin insisted on taking his letter to Santa to the post office himself. The mailbox at the end of my drive way was just not going to suffice this year. The lady at the post office was just a doll and took his letter and handled it with the utmost importance. She told him, Oh don’t you worry honey, we’ve got a load going up to the North Pole in the back and I will make sure it goes on this trip!” Austin took in a breath and let out a big sigh of relief and then a huge smile came over his face as he’d realized he’d accomplished his mission for the day.
Well yesterday he got back a letter postmarked from the North Pole and he was jumping up and down. Inside was a great letter from Santa as well as a picture and some Reindeer food that Santa asked be sprinkled outside our house on Christmas Eve. This was our 3rd letter to Santa, and so far we have gotten back a response every year. Austin is just so excited and guarding the reindeer food for dear life. If you haven’t ever actually mailed one, you may just want to go ahead and send that letter off to Santa- as you never know what might happen! There may just be some wonderful unseen Santas in your area too.
I am so grateful to them, whomever they may be, that they give of their time to do this each year- and make children they don’t even know so happy. I am always touched and inspired when we get back our letter from Santa each year!
