santaletterMy son recently dictated a letter to Santa to me which we promptly put in the mailbox on Monday. We addressed it only to “Santa” and put our return address on it and a stamp. I just picked up the mail and was so pleased to see a letter postmarked from the North Pole addressed to my son. In it was a letter from Santa as well as some Reindeer food that Santa asked be sprinkled outside our house on Christmas Eve. This is so cute and my son is just absolutely thrilled! You may just want to go ahead and mail that letter to Santa- as you never know what might happen! You can click on the picture to read the complete letter.

I have been trying to patiently wait on an e-mail response from Target regarding problems some of you are having with receiving a gift card when you do a price match. I couldn’t resist a call in to corporate- just to see what they had to say. The rep on the phone said they do not give a gift card when price matching and I asked him to please point that out in the policy to me. He referenced the following 2 items (highlighted in red) in their list of price matching exclusions:

Other price matching exclusions include:

Online prices, including Target.com
Promotions or products advertised on another company’s web or mobile sites, even those advertising in-store prices.
Timed events (e.g., early bird, door busters)
Items advertised as limited time/limited supply/limited quantity
Membership club or loyalty programs (e.g. prices that require a club or loyalty card)
Coupon-required or giftcard offers
Prices advertised only as a percent off or $ off
Competitor’s free product, buy one, get one, bundled offers, or special purchases

I don’t know about the rest of you- but to me they are clearly speaking about what they will not price match when it comes to their competitors. The first item specifically states “another company” not themselves, and the second item means (imo anyway) that I can’t bring in an ad from Best Buy offering a $20 Gift Card when I purchase product X and expect Target to give me a $20 gift card if I purchase Product X at their store instead.

So, as I was getting nowhere- I hung up and will continue to wait impatiently for an e-mail response instead. I am curious if I will get a no and if they reference the same two items. I have a sad feeling that this “low price promise” regarding gift card deals will be a ymmv since even though I feel the exclusions listed above are referencing other stores- many stores will cite that they are also referencing themselves- which to me, makes absolutely no sense.

UPDATE: After a few very frustrating, basically unanswered e-mails to corporate- I received a phone call today from Minneapolis. A definite answer on price matching on a gift card I think will require another conversation- and hopefully I will get a contact within a couple weeks. But after speaking to the rep from corporate- I really think that the reason this worked for some and not others is because of the specific scents that some people purchased. The Glade deal only included 7 types of scented 4 oz- candles. They were coded so she could not give the exact names- but I believe they are the following: Apple Cinnamon, Creamy Custard, Holiday Apple Cinnamon, Pear, Peppermint, Bayberry, Gingerbread & Cinnamon Gingerbread. If your shelves were not clearly marked and you ended up purchasing scents other than these- the computer would NOT have prompted for a gift card. Of course although that was probably the issue- the first response you all got was that it was because of the price match- when in fact- I really don’t think it had anything to do with it at all. She was in agreement that the exclusions listed on their low price promise were meant to be applied to competitor ads- but wanted to investigate the matter further for me. I will keep y’all posted when they get in touch again.

reuseablebagsDid you know that Target will take 5 cents off for each reuseable bag you use for your purchases? It does not have to be a Target Bag either- though I must say I really like some of their bags. If you have a hard time remembering them- try taping a reminder note to the outside of whatever you use to bring your coupons to the store. After a while- you will stop forgetting them and it becomes a complete habit to grab them before you run out the door!
