Target Clearance Schedule

Although stores vary their schedules somewhat- and things change from year to year- we should still see bigger clearance prices at most stores the further we get away from the holidays. Lynne over at Workin’ the Deals has a holiday clearance mark-down schedule posted that can serve as a possible reference:

* 50% off day after holiday for three days
* 75% off fourth day after holiday for three days
* 90% off seventh day after holiday for 1-2 days.

Monday – Electronics, Kids Clothing and Stationary (Cards, GiftWrap, etc.)
Tuesday – Domestics, Women’s Clothing, Pets and Market (food items)
Wednesday – Men’s Clothing, Toys, Health and Beauty, Lawn & Garden items
Thursday – House Wares, Lingerie, Shoes, Sporting Goods, Movies, Music, Books, Decor and Luggage
Friday – Auto, Cosmetics, Hardware, & Jewelry

-Thanks to Lynne from Workin’ the Deals

Also- a quick note- that I spotted 50% off Black Dot merchandise at the Dollar Spot tonight. If you can find a black dot- it is 50% off.

  1. Thanks for the help. Question; Do they mark items at 50%, 75% and 90% off starting at the day they are listed? Like Tuesday is the fourth day after the holiday so are the departments listed starting their markdowns at 50% or 75%. I think I have managed to confuse myself!

  2. Hey Christine- it was probably a little confusing for me to list those two things together. The holiday clearance and the clearance schedule are independent of one another. The holiday schedule- is typically when things will advance a percentage. The department clearance schedule is typical of when they mark down items in the store. Unsually departments start off at 30% and after that – there is no clear cut schedule on when they will advance to the next percentage up. I have seen things sit on clearance for as long as 3 months without budging! The clearance schedule is sort of just a guideline for you to know in which department and on which day team members are doing markdowns. Again- not all stores will follow this exact schedule- but it is typical for most stores.
