The Knorr Report: My Notes for the Week of 9/26

Welcome to the Knorr Report- my little weekly report of my adventures at Target! 🙂

SO LONG OLD PAL…
I know many of you have never had a Garden center in your Target, or it has closed up long ago, but mine has survived the years, and it has been like an old, familiar friend. Each week I would push my cart through the automatic doors and make a once-around my Garden Center. And now, as of September 30th it will be closed, and any other remaining Target Garden Centers will likely be closing on this date or soon after too. As I pushed my cart around this week, it made me sad to know it would be the very last time, and it was a little depressing to see just a few remnants of what it once was. One lone Palm tree, a few torches and clearanced bug spray bottles, and not much else.

It was barren and desolate but still brought back many memories of all the hopeful plants and flowers I carted home, just to perish weeks later. No more Christmas trees, no more bargain outdoor finds, no more browsing in the sunlight. Although I will miss my Target Garden Center, there is the Home Depot, chock-full of more plants and flowers for me to take home and try not to kill. As I pushed my cart back out through the doors for the very last time, I caught sight of a single Strawberry Plant kit, clearanced for $1.38, and put it in my cart. Maybe I am just a sentimental mush, but I am also a very persistent gal and an optimist. And maybe, just maybe, I can get this very last purchase from the Target Garden Center to survive and be my souvenir. 😉

NOTES ON THIS WEEK’S SALE

ARCHER FARMS FRUIT BARS: The Archer Farms Simply Balanced Fruit Bars, 5-6 ct boxes are on sale this week for $2. There is a $1/2 Archer Farms Simply Balanced Items Target Coupon HERE that you can use to pick them up for $1.50 each after coupon wyb 2.

GREEN GIANT SALE: There was lots of Green Giant Frozen veggies included in this week’s sale aside from the Large sized bag vegetables. I saw lots of varieties of boxed veggies ranging from $1.14-$1.24, Valley Fresh Steamers from $1.36 – $1.69 and Just for One Veggies at $2.69. There’s a .50/1 Any Green Giant Frozen Vegetables HERE, there are some GG Qs on coupons.com, and several in the 9-12 GM Insert.

GILLETTE BODYWASH: Gillette 12 oz Body Wash in Assorted Varieties are also on sale this week for $3.18. There is a new $2/1 Gillette Bodywash in the 9-26-10 P&G Insert, so they will be $1.18 each after coupon.

GARNIER FRUCTIS: If you are picking up Garnier Fructis this week, there are lots of bonus packs included in the 2/$5 sale. Look for them in the regular aisles and on the endcaps. There is a –$1/1 Garnier Fructis Shampoo, Conditioner or Treatment in the 9-12-10 RP and also a $1/1 Garnier HERE to get a full size bottle, plus a smaller, but nice-sized bonus bottle for $1.50 each after coupons.

OTHER OBSERVATIONS THIS WEEK
So I nearly fainted when I saw the newly highered price of the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower cleaner of $17.69, but then realized this is the price for the new dual sprayer model, but I also believe it is the end of the old model, so no more $12.99. 🙁 I also noticed that my store got in bonus size bottles of LA Looks but still being sold at the same price of $1.94. They are 30 oz bottles, and there are $1/1 LA Looks product in the 8-1-10 RP. But you may want to bide your time as the coupon is valid until x11/1 and these go on Price CUt quite often. I hope these huge bottles survive on the shelf until that happens.

That wraps it up for this week folks. I will try & get a clearance post up later today!

  1. Wow, I didn’t know the Archer Farms Simply Balanced TQ could be used for the Fruit Bars. I love those things! I just bought 2 boxes of Raspberry and 1 box of Tropical Medley last night. Hmm… I’ll have to print the coupon and take it with me when I go back.

    Thanks, Kerry! 🙂

  2. Went to Target last Tuesday when the plants where 30%. Found great deals. I went back today and saw that they were 75% off.!!! Had to buy more!! I was told that Thursday is the last day and whatever is left on Friday they are tossing in the garbage…. sad.
**Ruth we go to the same Target @ Traditions.

  3. Glad I am not the only one sad to see the Target garden center close. It used to be my refuge when I didn’t want to battle the long lines checking out. My garden is filled with plants from Target (mine are alive though). 🙂

  4. The targets I went to always had them. Now…I have noticed them disappearing and a ton of clearance in them. Very sad to hear. Good luck with the plant!!

  5. Head and Shoulders 2 in 1 citrus breeze with bonus travel size was marked down at my store to $1.98. Used a $ 1 off from Sept. P & G insert and paid $.98. Also, Vaseline Sheer infusion lotion clearanced to $1.74 (reg. $6.99!). Used the $1.50 off Target Q and paid $.24. Also, Secret Invisible Solid Completely Clean with travel size was marked down to $1.98,. Used $1 off Q from P & G and paid $.98.

  6. Sad to see the garden center closing. Have not been looking forward to it since we found out about this over a month ago. Did get some nice things on clearance, and then yesterday a bunch of plants at 75%. Gonna make one more run to another Target before the end however for old times sakes! Gonna miss it.

  7. Ours just closed this week too and there is a pain in my heart. Garden center was my main entrance and the guys that worked in there were ever so nice. 🙁 I did grab a bunch of plants just today at 75% off though! 15 plants for 16.83, roughly $1.12 a piece.

  8. THE ONE IN KENDALL CLOSED LIKE 4 YEARS AGO!..NOW THAT I LIVE IN WI. I DONT MISS IT! NATURE IS GREAT AND FREE!..LOL. I HAVE TO AD THAT I HEAD TO TARGET YESTERDAY MORNING LIKE AROUND OPENING TIME AND SAW SOMETHING REALLY FUNNY..EVERYBODY WAS STOCKING UP SHELVES!..AND I MEAN “EVERYBODY” EVEN SECURITY GUARDS! WEIRD RIGHT NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE..THEY LOOK LIKE BUSY ANTS!

  9. Yup, same on the Gillette Body Wash for me! It’s regular price is $2.99; it’s on sale for $2.64, so I picked up bottles for .64 cents! Woo Hoo! I think with all the coupons they’ve put out for that stuff over the past few months, DH has enough of that stuff to last him as long as it will last! =)

  10. oh and there were garnier fructis shampoo and conditioners on clearance at $1.48 on an end cap in the shampoo aisle.

  11. My target garden center also is closing. Wonder I’d we re talking about the same target. Wonder if we have seen each other at the register with our pile of coupons at hand. :). Tradition target. That’s the one closest to me. 🙂
