A Day for Remembering Those who Served

While Memorial Day Weekend may be filled with barbecues and be a welcoming sign of the start of summer just around the corner, more importantly it is a day to honor those who have died in service to our country.

Lately my six-year-old son Austin has been obsessed with all things army, and he even begged me for the First Aid bag I got from Target last week- announcing that it was an army medical bag and he just absolutely needed it.

But aside from all the military fascination- he really tugged at my heart this weekend when over the last couple of days he has been collecting items to create a memorial in our front yard. It makes me so proud that he is not only is showing an understanding ofย the meaning of Memorial Day, but that it touched him in a way that compelled him to do something to show his respect.
