Summer movies are a great way to take a break from the hot sun, eat some popcorn and enjoy a movie with your kids! And, many large theaters participate in FREE or very inexpensive Summer Film Festivals with fun titles like Rio2, How to Train Your Dragon, The BoxTrolls, The LEGO Movie, Mr. Peabody & Sherman and lots more.
Here’s a roundup of the ones I know about but be sure to call your local theater if you don’t see yours listed here to ask if they offer any summer specials or FREE Movies. Or if you know offhand of any programs you want to share with other readers, please feel free to share it in the comments with any info or link you can provide and I will add it to the post.
When you’re making plans, my advice is to get to the theater early, as sometimes there are whole groups of children from day camps arriving and they can fill up the theaters fast. Some of these programs may require you to enter your location first to see a schedule and list of movies. Hopefully the links below will help get you started…
REI CINEMAS
If you are near an REI Cinema, check out their FREE Summer Movies on Tuesday & Wednesday at 10 am & 11 am. This summer’s schedule starts June 9th & 10th with Mr. Peabody & Sherman. For more details and a complete list of movies scheduled, go HERE.
BOWTIE CINEMAS FREE KIDS SUMMER FILM SERIES
In the past, Bowtie has offered FREE admission to select kids’ movies every Tuesday and Wednesday at participating Bowtie Cinemas with tickets issued on a first come-first served basis. They haven’t annouced their Summer 2015 program yet, but you can go to their Facebook page HERE to watch for details.
CARMIKE CINEMAS SUMMER KID SERIES
This summer, kids can enjoy a movie, popcorn and a Coca-Cola product for only $4 at select theaters. Just go HERE and select your location to check for days and times. This summer’s movies include Marmaduke, Paddington, Rise of the Guardians, and more.
CINEMARK SUMMER MOVIE CLUBHOUSE
All movies are rated G or PG and you can get 10 tickets in advance for $5, or pay just $1 per ticket at the box office on the day of the movie. Go HERE for more details and to find a location near you. Once you click on your location, you should see a full schedule for your theater plus, watch for a $1 off coupon for a movie snack pack.
REGAL CINEMAS, UNITED ARTISTS & EDWARDS THEATERS SUMMER MOVIE EXPRESS
The 2015 Regal Summer Movie Express runs for 9 weeks with select titles playing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with $1 admission. Movies will all be rated G or PG and start dates vary by location. You can check to see if you have a local participating theater along with movie titles and schedule on the Regal Entertainment Group Summer Movie Express site. Movies are being offered by select Regal Cinemas, United Artists, and Edwards Theaters.
