FREE & Discount Activities for Kids and Families

Here are some FREE & Discount events going on this weekend. Many may seem to have consistent national participation- but it is always wise to call your local location to be sure they are participating.  

disney10-16DISNEY STORE:  The Disney Store will be hosting a Halloween Dress Rehearsal, complete with crafts, games, and a costume parade today, October 16th from 5:30 pm – 7 pm & Saturday and Saturday, October 17th from 11 am – 12:30 pm. Be sure to come dressed as your favorite Disney character for the parade and get a FREE Halloween surprise (while supplies last). Must be at least 3 years old to participate. Event limited based on store capacity – no lineups prior to 30 minutes before event begins. For more details, you can go HERE.

LIVING SOCIAL: Another good resource for great deals and discounts in your local area is Living Social. You can head over HERE to check for deals on all kinds of things including kids’ activities, entertainment, dining out, travel, etc. Just enter your zip code or city and state.


Screen Shot 2015-10-16 at 11.49.55 AMMICHAEL’S KIDS CLUB: This Saturday, October 17th, from 10 am – 12 pm, Michael’s is hosting a Halloween Family Event where kids and adults can make a a cat or ghoulish skull t-shirt. There is a cost of $7 per project which includes all supplies. You can also create a tote bag to enter in the Duck Tape Spookduckular Contest (cost of supplies for the tote bag will be separate). See site for more details.

LAKESHORE LEARNING CRAFT: Saturday, October 10th from 11 am to 3 pm — Kids can make a cute owl craft! Join the fun every Saturday with FREE crafts for kids at all locations. For a complete calendar of events, check out their Facebook page HERE and click on the Events Tab if you don’t see them.

LEGO BUILD SIGNUP: Registration is open now for the next LEGO Monthly Build to be held in November. Stores will no longer accept walk ups on the night of the event. You can go HERE To register.

toysrus10-16TOYS R US: Check out your local ToysRUs this Saturday, October 17th from 12 – 2 pm for a FREE LEGO building event and take home a FREE Mini LEGO City Kayak! Event is for kids, ages 6-up, parental supervision required at all times. Giveaways available while supplies last, limit one per child. You can check out all the details HERE.

POTTERY BARN:   Kids can enjoy Story Time, every Tuesday from 11am – 11:30am– check out program details HERE. Members receive an official Book Club Passport at their first story time, plus a special gift after attending five sessions. Watch for special story time events as well!

 Saturday, October 17th at 11 am — Join your local Barnes & Noble store for Storytime and Activities featuring, Imaginary FredGo HERE and enter your zip code to check your local Barnes & Noble store for participation and other events.

NATIONAL PARKS – JUNIOR RANGER PROGRAM: The National Park Service Junior Ranger program takes place in almost all parks and is appropriate for kids, ages 5 to 13, but people of all ages can participate. Junior Rangers are given a series of activities to complete during a park visit, share their answers with a park ranger, and receive an official Junior Ranger patch and certificate. For more details, check it out HERE. Plus, did you know that Active Duty Military members and their families can get FREE admission to National Parks year-round? Military ID is required. Many of these events are free and on a monthly schedule. Just go HERE and scroll down to where you can choose your closest city to find FREE and reduced-price Target events near you.
