I’m excited to tell you about this new game our family recently played called, Dr. Eureka, available now at Target. What a blast we had playing this cool game! What I liked most about Dr. Eureka, is that its refreshingly different from other games we’ve played and challenges both your physical and mental skills while being fun at the same time.
To begin, each player is given 3 test tubes with 2 colorful balls in each and a deck of Challenge Cards is placed where everyone can see it. When everyone is ready – the first Challenge card gets turned over and then the fun begins! Each player has to move the balls from tube to tube without dropping them, positioning them so they match the challenge card. The first one to match the card yells “Eureka” and wins the round, earning 1 point. The winner of the game is the first one to reach 5 points.
Its not as easy as you think since the balls can spill out of the test tube too quickly or fall on the floor if you’re not careful! The strategy is to figure out how you can match the challenge card in the least number of moves since time is of the essence. Racing against your fellow players to finish first while simultaneously trying not to rush and spill the balls from the tubes is what makes this game exciting and challenging! And, since you don’t reset the balls at the end of each round, that plays into your strategy for the next challenge card.
Dr. Eureka, produced by Blue Orange Games, is geared for ages 8 and up, but is fun for adults too & I must say I really enjoyed myself and we had a lot of laughs. I thought it was going to be easier than it looked- so the challenge made it that much more fun! We love playing family games around here- so it is great when we find a game the whole family can enjoy.
