Target to Price Match Online Competitors Starting 11/1

Watching the news last night I was pleasantly surprised to hear some pretty cool Target news! They announced that for the first time, they will match prices with select online competitors between Nov. 1st and Dec. 16th. Customers will only need to show the online price for the item using their smartphone or ask customer service to look it up. These online retailers include Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Bestbuy.com, Toysrus.com and babiesrus.com. Sounds very cool to me! There was also an article that Gerard saw in the Washington Post if you want to check it out HERE

To make it easier to check online deals with your smartphone, Target has started providing FREE Wi-Fi in its stores with plans to have it in all stores for the holiday season. FREE Wi-Fi also makes it convenient to use Target’s mobile app, redeem mobile coupons and scan QR codes. If you’re not familiar with QR codes, its short for “quick response code” and works like a bar code that you can scan with a camera-equipped smartphone for more information. For example, the Target mobile app can scan a QR code on a product and give you price, details, etc. Don’t you just love technology?! 🙂

Roll Your Target Gift Cards Into One

If you own an iPhone, iPad or Android device, then you can now roll all those Target Gift Cards into one and stop worrying about losing them or carrying them all the time. Just follow these simple steps to get started.

If you don’t already have the Target App on your phone, just text “APP” to 827438 (TARGET) to receive a download link. Message and data rates may apply. You can also go HERE to the Target website and click on your device in the left hand column to get started.

Next, sign in to your Target.com account on your phone (email and password required). Select “My GiftCards” and enter your mobile number and pin and then click on “sign in”. If you have not created a pin yet, just click on “create account”. TIP: When entering numbers throughout this process, you do not need to enter any hyphens.

Once you are signed in to GiftCards, select “Save a Card” and enter the GiftCard and Access numbers found on the back of the card. Once you are finished, select “Save”. Repeat this process until you have entered all your GiftCards. TIP: Any time you receive a Target GiftCard, you may want to enter it right away so its recorded. You can then go back and combine at any time.

Now, to combine your cards, select “My GiftCards” and pick one of your cards from the list. Next, select “Combine” and it will bring up a list of your other cards. Choose another card from the list and select “Combine”. TIP: When I followed these steps, I noticed there was a slight delay after saving and combining, so please be patient. Once its finished, a screen will come up telling you the step was successful. Repeat this process until you have finished combining all your cards. As you proceed, the screen will reflect a new total for your GiftCard balance.

That’s it! You’re all set now and no more worries. You may want to store the physical GiftCards in a safe place at home as your backup.

*NOTE: To see these instructions on the Target website with photos, go HERE and click on “no store? no computer? no prob.” The videos are pretty short so you may want to skip them. Select “how mobile GiftCards work” and then go to where it says “already got a GiftCard?” There are 3 videos, one for saving a card, sharing a card and combining your cards. The links for step by step instructions with photos are just above the videos.

Give with Target: Helping Raise Money for Schools

If you have a child in grades K-12 or even if you just know someone who is in school, there’s a great promotion going on right now with Target to help raise money for education. You can help give up to $2.5 million in support to schools through Give with Target.

To enter your school, click on this link and then type the name of your school in the box along with your city and state or zip. You have to enter this information before you can see a list of schools near you.

For example, once I entered my son’s school, I was asked if I wished to vote for any other schools near me and a list came up. The prompt also said I could vote again in 1 day. If your school is not in the database, then you will need to choose a different one. Sorry folks, Target does not give you the option to add your school if its not in the database.

You can vote daily now through 9/8 or when $2.5 million in Target GiftCards have been awarded, whichever happens first. For every 25 votes received for a school during the Promotion Period, Target will give them a $25 Target GiftCard with a maximum of $10,000 in gift cards allowed. For example, if your school receives less than 25 votes then they will not receive any gift cards. If they receive 50-74 votes, then they will receive $50 in gift cards.

Promotion ends 9/8 and you must be 13 years of age and older to vote. Limit one vote per person per day. You can go HERE for more details.

Changes to the Target Coupon Policy

Well if you have had a copy of Target’s Coupon Policy in your binders, it is time to print another one. Target has updated its Coupon Policy and the most notable difference is now addressing the quantity of coupons that can be used. You can view and print off a copy of Target’s Coupon Policy HERE. The following is what I see new in the policy…

1. Limit of 4 identical coupons per household, per day (unless otherwise noted on coupon)
so in other words if your coupon has wording on it that limits you to using less, you cannot use 4

2. Returns of items purchased using Manufacturer coupons may receive coupon value returned in the form of a Target GiftCard.  So for example, if you buy a Bottle of Pantene Shampoo for $3.49 and use a $1/1 Manufacturer’s Coupon on it and decide to return it. You may only get $2.49 refunded to you, and $1 will be put on a Target Gift Card. (Note- The value of a Target Coupon used is never refunded).

3. We reserve the right to accept, refuse or limit the use of any coupon.

4. We do not accept Canadian coupons in our US stores.
