Well I just got back from a day of errands and 2 trips to 2 different Target Stores. When I got to the first store they were bringing out 2 big cart fulls of stuff and they had most of the stuff stickered, but the 30% Off Sign was still there. I was shocked at just how much stuff was on the shelves, and how few shoppers there were. I watched and waited as they put out more clearance stuff and as they made a decision not to change the signage to 50 & 75% off due to some items still on the shelves at 30% off.
As I walked the aisles and looked at how many Lego sets there were, I decided to pass and take a chance and hope that they are there when they are marked down again. I just felt with so much stock and so few shoppers it is worth the risk to wait and it was mostly The Miners Lego sets. If I had found a Lego Pirate ship at 50% Off, I may have thought differently. I really didn’t buy much at the first store- but I did find the Trio Construction set marked 75% off for $9.98 and a deck of Star Wars cards for $2.48. There was also some DC Comics figure sets with 6 figures marked 75% Off at $7.48 that I picked up as well. I also found a big cardboard box of stuff in the Christmas section that I think had been forgotten the first time around. It was mostly Christmas stockings, but there were some nice large Christmas Gift bags in there that I grabbed for 14 cents a piece.
At the second store I only bought one item. And I felt even better about finalizing a decision to wait for further markdowns- because there were just as few shoppers and just as many toys AND the second store had proper signage. They had 75% Off endcaps and then the aisles were marked 50% Off and there weren’t many takers. I did get a great deal on the Target-Exclusive Star Wars X-Wing Fighter. This toy was originally 49.99 and it was marked 50% Off at $24.98, I used a $5/20 Star Wars Purchase IP Q (no longer available), which brought it down to $19.98. It was like getting it for 60% off- which was good enough for me since I can almost bet these won’t survive to a further markdown. I had three 5$ gift cards left to spend anyway, so I only came out of pocket $4.98 and my son will be thrilled on his B-Day!
