Although I have had my fair share of hassles at Target in the past, I have also had many a new-to-me cashier & manager handle a transaction or problem in a courteous, respectful, friendly, helpful manner. I don’t mind when a new cashier takes a little extra time to look over my coupons either- #1 to the best of my knowledge I use my coupons correctly, but #2 as long as they are friendly and polite and don’t look at me like they would rather stick needles in their eyes when they see my coupons- they are just doing their job.
I truly appreciate those employees who take the time to try and understand coupons and how they can be used as opposed to those who loathe them and make you well aware that they are hating every moment you are in line. To show my gratitude, I frequently fill out Guest Comment Cards. If you are unfamiliar with them- they can be found at Guest Services and they are also kept up at the registers in many stores. If you are happy with the service you get, think about taking a moment to fill out one of these cards to show your appreciation. You can either hand it in at the store- or drop it in the mail.
So finally the new flavors are here! Starting this week, Target will introduce 2 new, exclusive Ben & Jerry’s flavors at all stores nationwide. They are Berry Voluntary and Brownie Chew Gooder, and will be available through 2010.
These flavors were created to encourage guests to volunteer in their communities through a special promotion called “Scoop it Forward.” If you are interested in participating in this program- you can visit www.VolunteerMatch.org/scoopitforward to find volunteer opportunities in your area. As an added bonus- after registering for a volunteer activity, and upon forwarding the opportunity to 5 friends, you AND each of your 5 friends will receive a coupon for a FREE pint of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, redeemable at Target, while supplies last. I believe once the Free coupons are gone- you can still receive a $1/1 coupon when you participate in the “Scoop It Forward” promotion in recognition of your volunteerism.
Berry Voluntary is a raspberry cheesecake flavor with white chocolate chunks and raspberry swirls and Brownie Chew Gooder is vanilla caramel ice cream with fudge brownie pieces, and a caramel swirl for good measure. And fortunately for us they are advertised for $2.50 each this week and a stack is available to try them out for $1.25 each if you’ve got the right coupons.

Welcome to the Knorr Report – my notes and musings on the sale and slightly odd happenings each week. Due to Father’s Day and being Aveeno-Rebate obsessed
– I really do not have much to report this week. I did not spend the usual amount of time I do in the store aside from getting the new price cuts and doing my own shopping.
But I did notice the Huge boxes of Tide Stain release now marked down 30% at my store (but of course the Gift Card Deal is now over). But also the Tide Free 2x 75 oz Detergent is down 30% to $6.15. There are coupons available – even though the P&G Tide coupon isn’t that hot. But again- you may find a bigger discount at your store and it is something to keep your eye on in case it goes lower. Here’s a Tide coupon roundup:
$1/1 Tide Laundry Detergent ETS Target Q 5-16-10 SS x6/28
$1/1 Tide Laundry Detergent ETS Target Coupon 6-6-10 RP x7/17
-.35/1 Any Tide Laundry Detergent 6-6-10 PG x7/31
$1.50/1; $1/1 Tide Stain Release Target Coupon 6-6-10 RP x7/17
-$1/1 Any Tide Stain Release 6-6-10 PG x7/31
TOTAL EFFECTS: I had several e-mails now about the Total Effects being lowered in many stores to $4.79 down from $5.50. This was good news for those with the higher price, but upon getting an e-mail from Susan- who used to have the $3.54 price but now found a $4.79 price on her latest Target trip- I took a look today and found the same thing. Now I didn’t scan – since there isn’t a bottle in sight TO scan
– so I don’t know if the new sign is just missing or they have indeed raised the price. But just a heads up that the days of Free Olay Total Effects may possibly be coming to an end. Let m know if any of you folks noticed this drop/increase too.

And on a final note- guess what? The clearanced Knorr Alfredo Pasta Sides at my store have almost reached what I consider regular price! They are now clearanced to $1.14. LOL! Still no takers- whole shelf full of ‘em. As soon as they hit 75% off they will actually be on sale imo.
Okay- I am off to start in on the New Price Cuts!
Hope everyone is having a good week so far!
UPDATE: Woops! Just found one more thing in my notebook to tell you about. I found Coffee Mate on a 1-week only Price Cut of $1.48, and there are coupons for a good deal:
Coffee Mate Liquid Creamer 16 oz $1.48 (PC Until 6/26)
-.50/1 Nestle Coffeemate Liquid 5-2-10 SS x8/2
-.75/1; Any Coffee-Mate 15 oz or larger (sign in or sign up) PRINT
B2G1 Free Coffee-Mate 15 oz or + HERE
$1.50/2 Coffee Mate 15 oz or + HERE
Use the .75/1 to get them for .73 cents each
FYI - Emily let me know that she upgraded her Safari and in doing so is no longer able to print her Target coupons. And she pretty much got a (sorry nothing we can do about it) e-mail when she contacted Target. Seems as though the New Version of Safari is not compatible with the eCentives software Target uses. Just keep this in mind before you upgrade. You can also install another browser like Firefox though to use to print your coupons which may help. -Thanks Emily!
UPDATE: Mitchell has a possible fix for this:
Go to Safari, Preferences and click the Advanced tab.
Tick the box that says “Show Develop menu in menu bar”.
Go to the Target coupon site.
Click Develop, User Agent, then Safari 4.0.5-Mac.
The page will reload and you should be able to print your coupons!
-Thanks to Mitchell at FrugaFinders.com!

Welcome to the Knorr Report – my notes and musings on the sale each week.
So I bet some of you who read my post about the unadvertised B4G1 Free Special K Deal thought that the price on the Blueberry Fruit Crisps was a typo eh?
As you can see- it is not. You can buy Blueberry Fruit Crisps at my store for the deal if you want to, but they will be almost $1 more and yes I scanned it! Hmmmm… anyone else find this discrephancy?
So what’s going on for the week? Well I can tell you that some lucky ducks got handed out a nice little coupon booklet at certain SuperTarget locations yesterday called Make the Best of Summer. It contained both Target & Manufacturer coupons in it. I’m very jealous, but hope y’all who got them enjoy ‘em. Amanda was lucky enough to get a few that people just left in their carts! Can you believe that? They may as well have left money sitting there!
Anyway- if you’d like to see a list of the Qs- you can take a look at Amanda’s post HERE. -Thanks Amanda!
HUGGIES
There is a short-term price cut this week only (thru 6/19) on Huggies Baby Wipes. For those of you with no Pampers Coupons- this may be an option since there are still a couple coupons available. Although- I have seen them go as low as $1.66 before if you can stand to wait.
Huggies Baby Wipes 64 ct Packages $1.99
-$2.50/3 Huggies Wipes 64 ct or higher PRINT
.50/1 Huggies Baby Wipes 64 ct or + (62946 and has small supercenter logo) PRINT
SOLO
So I looked around to see what I could find for cheap Solo products with the new coupon stack using the $1/1 Target Mobile Coupon. Cheapest thing I found was a package of Paper Plates. Not too bad and just over $1
Solo Heavy Duty Paper Plates 52 ct $2.77
-$1/1 Solo disposable tableware item Target Mobile Q x7/10
-.75/1 Solo Cups Plates or Bowls PRINT
= $1.02 after both coupons

BEN & JERRY’S
I am also getting tired of seeing this Ben & Jerry’s Sign up in the freezers about the new Target Exclusive Flavors coming. Well where are they already? Have they shown up in anyone’s store yet? Did I miss them? I am hoping they might run some kind of sale to announce them while both an MQ and a Target Q are available to stack. Although it’s not too bad a deal already for B&J fans:
Ben & Jerry’s Pints Asst. Flavors $2.99 (Regular Price)
-$1.50/2 Ben and Jerry’s ice cream products 1 pint Size TQ 4-25-10 Target Regional Insert x6/30

Buy 2 and use both coupons to get them for $1.74 each after both coupons.
BIORE
The Biore Gift Card Deal is still going on- and some of the products are included in the Biore Sale this week. If you are new to this deal, it’s not a bad time to take advanantage of it. Here’s just a sample deal scenario using the 6 ct Strips or the scrub that are on sale- but you can see all the details about this deal and what’s included HERE.
FREE $5 Gift Card wyb 3 Select Biore Products*
*Biore 6 ct Ultra Deep Cleansing Nose Strips or Scrub $5.34

FOOD CLEARANCE
So just when I thought the food clearance may be dwindling down my store just stuffed 4 endcaps full again! But that’s a whole other post!
Hope y’all are having a nice week!

I got a few e-mails from readers about a new Rewards program that Target announced yesterday that will begin this fall. This new program will award Target shoppers a 5% off instant discount at check-out every day when they use a REDcard at any Target store or on Target.com. If you are unfamiliar- there are 2 different types of Target REDcards. There is a Target Check Card which works like a Debit Card through your checking account and there is a Target Credit Card. You can go HERE to see the differences and apply for both- but you can also just apply in the store.
The good news is- this discount will be for BOTH the Target Credit Card & Target Check Card. This new Rewards program will replace the current one where you earn a 10% Off Coupon, but the current program will remain active for cardholders until the new one is activated this fall.
Target has had this program on a test run in Kansas City since October 2009. Jenny, who is in Kansas City has been using it since it started and loves it. She said that you get the 5% off upon payment and the discount shows up on your receipt. The discount is taken after all coupons and before tax. If any other Kansas City folk that have been able to take advantage of this programhave any other thoughts on their experiences with it please feel free to comment below.
Target also announced a change to the Pharmacy Rewards program. Starting this fall, guests will receive a coupon good for 5 percent off a future day of shopping every time they fill five prescriptions at a Target pharmacy with a Target REDcard. You can read the full article on both of these new programs HERE.
-Thanks so much to Jenny, Ray and Julie & all the KC readers for helping clarify the terms!
Many of you have written me in exasperation over your store not allowing you to use a B1G1 with a money off coupon. That is a painful thing for me to hear- as some of the best deals are achieved this way, although I do try and give a heads up in my posts that these type of deals may be a ymmv.
First I want to say that using a B1G1 coupon along with a $ Off coupon on a non-free item IS perfectly acceptable coupon use across the country in a variety of different grocery stores, drug stores etc. Not all- but many stores will allow it without any trouble. You are not doing anything wrong by attempting to use coupons this way as long as they do not include any instructions on the coupon to the contrary. And many of you are able to use coupons in this manner at your Target stores without issue as well. So why does it work at some stores and not others?
HUMAN ISSUES
Although for some of you the computer system at your Target may have no trouble accepting the coupons, it will be a cashier or manager who prevents you from using both coupons. Because this is not addressed in Target’s coupon policy- you are at the mercy of the store’s individual policy.
COMPUTER ISSUES
At some Target stores the registers are set up so that when you present a B1G1 coupon, that coupon will attach to both items, the Free item AND the non-free item. So when you hand over your money off coupon for the non-free item, the computer has not left an item open to use that coupon on. This will be the same issue no matter which coupon you hand over first. If you hand the money off one first, when the B1G1 is scanned- the computer is looking for 2 items to attach to, and because it can’t find two, it will also deny the coupon. Here is where a cashier or manager will have to manually push the coupon through and they either will, or they won’t.
NEW POS SYSTEM
Target has a new POS System in place at some stores. This new register software has an upside, but like all computer software- it is not perfect and in this case it WILL matter the order you hand your coupons over. With this system, now when a coupon comes up and says item not found, the cashier will be able to enter into another screen and see all the items you are buying and choose one to attach the coupon to. No more rifling through your bags to prove you did in fact buy it.
Since I am unfamiliar with this new system as it is not in all Target stores (and not sure if it will be either), I asked Kristen, of StartOutSaving to do a guest post on it. Kristen, a self-confessed Target-aholic has encountered it in her stores and has a few tips and tricks on how to make it work best for you. You can see Kristen’s post HERE. -Thanks so much to Kristen for the detailed report! Now, of course, even with this new system, there is STILL a human behind the machine and there is no guarantee that this will solve B1G1 issues for you. But there are a couple things you can try.
1. Ask to see a manager- maybe he or she has a different outlook than the cashier
2. Carry around a coupon that prohibits the use of using both coupons as an example. If you can show a cashier or manager the type of wording that a company would use if they wanted to prevent you from using both coupons- it may just help. A perfect example is in the B1G1 Purina Busycoupon from the 3-28-10 SS (coupon reads “No other offer may be used to purchase the same packages).
You can try calling corporate about these issues as well. I have had a couple readers do so with success, however, it will depend on who you talk to at corporate and communication between corporate and your store on whether or not they will modify their particular policy of how they allow these coupons to be redeemed.
Here it is Thursday again. Some of you may notice that posts can sometimes be slim on Thursdays, it is usually because I am hard at work on matchups for the New Ad. That is exactly what I am doing now, but I want to take a minute and address something that is heavy on my mind. My e-mail, particularly those that contain questions from readers.
It is very hard sometimes with the sheer volume of e-mail I get to answer it all. Actually- for me it is impossible to answer it all. It’s a horrible feeling to want to answer everyone’s questions and pleas for help when I just can’t manage to do that and keep the blog up at the same time. That being said- I always welcome e-mails from the readers- but I would like to try and take some time out at the very least once a week and answer the most popular questions from my inbox in case I can’t answer them all on a one-to-one basis.
Maybe this will help not only the readers who have e-mailed me about these topics, but those who have wondered what to do and have not reached out. Here are a few that I get frequently and all pretty much have the same possible solutions.
MY TARGET STORE WILL NOT ADJUST A COUPON DOWN – IS THIS RIGHT?
MY TARGET WILL NOT ACCEPT A STORE COUPON AND A MANUFACTURER’S COUPON ON ONE ITEM
MY STORE SAYS THEY CANNOT ADJUST A COUPON DOWN IF I USE BOTH A STORE COUPON & MANUF. COUPON
There are several variations of these- sometimes they are questions, sometimes they are complaints, sometimes it is just expressing frustration. I can imagine how frustrating it must be to have your store tell you these things, but if you are experiencing any of these, here’s a few things you may want to try that may lead to a solution. It is my recommendation that you stay very calm, cool and polite. Although it is frustrating, to be riled up about something doesn’t usually serve much purpose.
1. Bring the Coupon Policy with you when you shop. You can print it HERE.
This policy contains some very important points, two of which refute the problems above:
• We’ll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
• Coupon amount may be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied.
2. If you are denied by the cashier, show him/her the policy
Maybe they are new, maybe they don’t understand, who knows. But having the policy in black and white for them to look at may help.
3. If you are STILL denied by the cashier, ask to speak with a manager
That may solve your problem right there. IF it does not, you can now show the policy to the manager and ask why that is, if the policy specifically states otherwise. If the situation is that the manager will not adjust a coupon down because you are using a Target Coupon as well, ask he/she to please read it again. The line in the policy even mentions “after other discounts and coupons are applied.”
4. If you are STILL denied by the manager
Get on your cell if possible, and call corporate from the store: 1.800.440.0680 and explain your situation. Let them know the location that you are at, and that you have the policy in your hand, but for some reason the store is not honoring it and could they please help you by speaking to them. If you are unable to call from the store- you can try to resolve it by calling corporate when you get home.
I hope this helps, and although these are things you may feel you shouldn’t have to do- if you can resolve these issues with your store, then it may save you time and money and frustration in the future.
