Every year in January, Target resets the toy section with new stock – and when this happens Target has major toy clearance. It has been going on for weeks now and while we used to see a large drop to 70 on many, many toys at once, that hasn’t been the case the last couple of seasons, but there are many toys that have dropped to 70% Off already.
This clearance is something to watch very closely on your own at your local stores and if you haven’t checked it out yet – I wouldn’t wait too much longer. The further we get in January, the slimmer it will get as Target will get rid of them soon one way or another to make room for new stuff. 🙂

Usually at some point in January, a large portion of whatever survives this clearance drops down even further to 70% Off all at once. However – last year, I felt that we did not see as quite of a clearly defined nationwide drop and the same may hold true for this year, especially since there have been quite a bunch of toys found at 70% off already.
We’ve been seeing clearance for weeks as the toy shelves have been being reset, and this clearance is something to watch very closely on your own at your local stores. The further we get in January, the slimmer it will get as Target will get rid of them soon one way or another to make room for new stuff. 🙂
It’s worth a good, long look in the toy aisles now to see if anything interests you as there is no way of knowing if what’s there now at 30 or 50% Off will survive until 70% Off. And many stores do Toy markdowns on Thursdays, so you may want to head out tomorrow to see if anything you’ve had your eye on takes another dip before it disappears.

Today may be the day that many of you see your stores drop to 70% Off on a large majority of their clearance Toys . I’ve gotten a few emails & comments already about finding 70% on a large number of toys- so I hope lots of you have some luck.
While we have been seeing toy clearance for weeks now- there should be a much larger portion of the toys marked down to 70% for many of you. Kelley was missing signs today but upon scanning and inspecting stickers she had quite the selection at 70% to choose from. So be sure and check closely no matter what your signs say and also scan to be sure!
Here’s just a few things she found that dropped to 70% Off for her today and a few other finds from readers e-mails as well. I’ve also tried to include a close up of the stickers to give you DPCI information. Every year in January, Target resets the toy section with new stock – and when this happens Target has major toy clearance. Usually at some point in January, a BIG portion of whatever survives this clearance drops down even further to 70% Off all at once. Most if not all of you are already seeing this big clearance going on with discounted toys on endcaps, in the regular aisles, and in designated clearance aisles- marked at anywhere from 30-50% and some already as much as 70% Off.
While some of you may be finding quite a few toys at 50-70% Off right now, many brand-name popular toys usually hold out until mid January before going to 70% Off all at once. Most Target stores do toy markdowns on Thursday’s and although it seems a little early to me – it is possible that this coincided drop may happen as early as tomorrow- Thursday January 12th, or it could be next week.
The important thing to remember about Target is that they are always shuffling things up & changing. So they may even do things differently this year and not drop so many at once and do some tomorrow and more next week.
The bottom line is- if you are interested in purchasing toys it is something to carefully watch on your own. It’s worth a good, long look in the toy aisles now to see if anything interests you as there is no way of knowing if what’s there now at 30 or 50% Off will survive until 70% Off.
But with all that being said – I thought I’d round up some of the toys that myself, Kelley & readers have already spotted as much as 70% Off….
