Super Easy and Totally Tasty Blue Goo Pie Recipe

Today I’m going to show you how to make Blue Goo Pie, one of my favorite go-to desserts. I usually have all 5 ingredients on hand.

Creamy, delicious, AND you can switch a few things up based on your preferences!

I’ve made this pie several different ways, and this one is my fave. It’s a big hit at family gatherings, and I usually make two because it disappears fast!

Blue Goo Pie Ingredients

Blue Goo Pie Ingredients

  1. Graham cracker crust (I use pre-made but you can make your own)
  2. Cream cheese 8 oz
  3. Sugar 1 cup
  4. Cool Whip 8 oz
  5. Can of blueberry pie filling

How to Make Blue Goo Pie

To make the pie, let the cream cheese soften for about 15 minutes at room temperature. Beat the cream cheese and sugar till mixed well. Fold in the Cool Whip and spread into your graham cracker pie crust. Top with pie filling and chill til set.

Whole Blue Goo Pie

The one can of blueberry pie filling will be a bit much, so you can always double your other ingredients and make two pies by being a bit conservative with the pie filling.

While my personal favorite is to use blueberry pie filling, you can swap out for cherry or strawberry if you prefer! I tend to do this a lot around the holidays, and sometimes for Independence Day or Memorial Day I will make one blueberry and one cherry to keep with the red, white, and blue theme.

This pie is also versatile and somewhat forgiving, as you can not only swap out your pie filling, you can also make other substitutions. Instead of using 1 cup of sugar, you can use 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar. And, you can swap your Whipped topping for a package of Dream Whip made according to directions.

Blue Goo Pie with whipped topping

You can also put a layer of sliced bananas on the pie crust before adding the cream cheese layer.  Decorate with extra whipped topping or Redi Whip to give each slice a bit more flair!

This is such an easy recipe, and once it sits in the fridge the sugar will finish dissolving into the cream cheese and whipped topping. The end result is so creamy – like a very light cheese cake! You can also use a bit less sugar OR add a bit more whipped topping to lower the calories.

When I really want to lighten it up, I just double the whipped topping and it still makes for a very satisfying dessert.

If you prefer, you can always make your own topping using fresh blueberries. Just mix two Tablespoons of corn starch with 1/2 cup of sugar in a pan. Add 2 cups of fresh blueberries, 1/2 cup of water and 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and cook over low – medium heat til thickened. Let cool before topping the pie!
